A socially responsible company is not merely limited to respecting employees’ rights, as provided for in the labor laws and according to the International Labor Organization, even though this is an indispensible presumption.

The company must go beyond this and invest in personal and professional development of its employees co-workers as well as improve the working conditions and tighten its relations with them. 

In this respect, Mácron has developed and introduced the Projeto Conhecer (Knowledge Project), the purpose of which is to grow closer to its internal staff.  To achieve this, informal visits are made to the homes of the employees and the result is a social map containing a broad range of information about the level of worker satisfaction and their families’ satisfaction with the company.

What is this?

Projeto Empresa Educadora (Project Company Educator), an initiative of SEE – Secretaria de Estado da Educação (State Education Secretary), FDE – Fundação para o Desenvolvimento da Educação (Foundation for the Development of Education) as well as private entities and nongovernmental organizations to encourage the participation of companies toward improving the structure of education offered at state public schools.

Such companies can invest in human resources or materials to make improvements in buildings, installations and equipment, underwrite school activities or provide services to improve school conditions.

The agreement between the school and the company investing in education was formally signed in compliance with the legal provisions set forth in SE Resolution 24, enacted on April 5, 2005.

What is the purpose of the project?

"To contribute toward the full development of students in the state public school system based on the establishment of partnerships between companies and schools for the purpose of improving the quality of education and encouraging students to take full advantage of the educational opportunities being offered."

Mácron X. Mizuho Abundância State School Partnership

In 2006, Mácron decided to support the project and adopted the Mizuho Abundância State School. In the beginning we were more active in the physical area but this year we have decided to become more active in the pedagogical side and professional training of teachers and coordinators. We believe that in three years we will have favorable results especially in terms of higher school attendance and learning.

Mácron, aware of its social responsibility, takes part in a number of social actions to the benefit of the community such as the Projeto Criança Segura (Safe Children Project). This is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and prevent accidents among children and adolescents up to the age of 14, since there are a large number of young people who die or are hospitalized owing to an ignorance of prevention measures.
